On the morning of June 30th, Tangshan Freight Center of Beijing Railway Bureau and Caofeidian Port Container Company jointly launched the 'Caofeidian Port - Baotou East Railway Station Container Pendulum Transport Project', marking the official opening of the container train service from Caofeidian to Inner Mongolia.
It is understood that previously, the goods such as lump coal, coke and PVC from Baotou area to Caofeidian Port were usually collected by first evacuating empty containers from the port and then transporting heavy containers by road. After the launch of this project, the non-ferrous ores from Caofeidian Port to Baotou area will be loaded in self-provided containers by sea and sent to Baotou East Railway Station by railway. On the return journey, they will be loaded with bulk coal, coke, PVC and other port cargo sources, achieving a pendulum transportation effect of 'heavy departure and return', which is not only low-carbon and energy-saving, but also reduces logistics costs.
According to Liu Mengyang, the Party Secretary of Tangshan Freight Center, the center currently manages 42 freight yards and 143 dedicated transportation lines. Its jurisdiction covers Tangshan and Qinhuangdao cities as well as parts of Tianjin and Langfang. In addition, it also undertakes the transportation tasks of large enterprises and ports such as Shougang, Tangsteel, Kailuan, Qinhuangdao Port, Jingtang Port and Caofeidian Port. The launch of this project has effectively alleviated the pressure of port clearance at Caofeidian Port and also made it possible for Caofeidian Port to attract a large amount of materials from Inner Mongolia region to the sea. Meanwhile, this project is also a beneficial attempt for Tangshan Freight Center to build a modern logistics enterprise
